Does the Omni Diet Plan Work?

Tana Amen, a registered nurse and nutritional consultant created the Omni diet which aims to strike a balance between food, weight loss and overall health. She crafted this diet plan as she was battling digestive troubles, infections and thyroid cancer which the doctors connected to her genetic makeup being the cause.

With 10 years of research, she finally crafted a diet plan which would be a long-lasting health solution.

What You Can Eat?

Here is a list of all the things that you should take when on the diet.
Fresh vegetables except for white potato
Moderate amounts of fruits. A good mix of berries is preferred
Lean meat, poultry and seafood of the wild variety
Organic free range eggs
Unsalted raw nuts and seeds
Limited amounts of dried beans and lentils
Herbs and spices – both fresh and dried
Superfoods like lucuma and pomegranate

What you need to cut back on?

Not all foods are useful to you. Here are some of the things you would have to avoid.

Dairy
Soy
Artificial sweeteners
Sugar and Carbohydrates
Gluten

How it works

The diet requires you to follow a 7:3 ratio of plant based nutrition and protein. By following the diet plan, Tana promises that in the first two weeks you could see noticeable changes like:

Weight loss of 12-15 pounds
Clear skin
Better mental focus and cognition
Better digestion
Reduction in pain and swelling
Loss of cravings for unhealthy ingredients

During the second phase of the diet, Amen recommends you reassess your eating habits and make a journal, to keep a log and make sure old unhealthy eating habits don’t reoccur.

The restrictions go down a notch, during the third phase, when you need to follow the 70-30 ratio only 90% of the time. However, the 10% should not hinder the basic guidelines of the diet. In this phase you can consume a certain amount of grains and also include up to 2 alcoholic drinks, but sugary drinks and liquor needs to be avoided.

Phase four of the plan is a lifetime maintenance phase which needs you to follow the same diet at least 90% of the times like in phase 3.

Snacking plays an important role in the Omni Diet plan, however it needs to be smart snacking which avoids intake of junk food like any other diet plan. Exercise needs to be added to your daily routine and there needs to be a high level of commitment.

Conclusion

The Omni Diet claims to be able to manage and treat several conditions like digestive problems, arthritis, acne, cancers, autoimmune disorders, liver ailments, Alzheimer’s, dementia, depression, blood sugar, obesity, respiratory problems, cardiovascular conditions, thyroid, and insomnia.

It reduces inflammation and boosts immunity along with slowing down aging. However, like any other diet plan, you need to consult with your doctor before you get started, as certain factors need to comply with your existing health conditions.
